For my birthday each year my partner tries to organise a trip away – for my 60th (big number & also Billie our Jack Russell’s 60th birthday too) we went to Paris by train from our sweet home in Hondarribia, Spain. This year she sorted out a road trip down to Curio Bay in the Catlins.
She managed to score the sweetest accommodation – a gyspy caravan that was a 3 minute walk to the Curio Bay beach and within an hour & a half drive to my fly fishing mate Chester’s home…yippee! So she got her beloved beach time & surf and I got to go catch some trout (next blog post).
The weather was pretty co-operative with a daily mix of cloud & sun and only a small smattering of rain here and there…not enough to dampen our exploring. My partner started off each day with a boogie board session (sometimes with a repeat in the afternoon) and was joined each time with a mob of Hectors Dolphins riding the waves with her. It made her day & trip…
We tried to tick off as many of the must do’s as we could together such as the Lost Gypsy, Cathedral Caves, the Old Coach Track, Tautuku Beach, the Petrified Forest and a nachos lunch at the Niagra Falls cafe.
